Google announced that its Gemini application has joinedVeo 3 TechnologyThe "Image-to-Video" feature powered by Google AI allows users to generate dynamic video content directly from static images, continuously strengthening AI content generation capabilities. However, this feature is currently only available to users who subscribe to the Google AI Pro service plan for $20 per month or the Google AI Ultra plan for $250 per month.
This feature was initially available in a limited user test within Flow, the creative tool Google announced earlier this year, but has recently been expanded. Users can tap "Tools" in the Gemini app's toolbar, select "Video" mode, enter a command, and upload an image. The system will automatically generate a short video up to 8 seconds long, with a resolution of 720p, and output in 16:9 landscape format.
Compared to TikTok's recently launched AI Alive, which focuses on social sharing, the content currently generated by Gemini is more suitable for desktop or professional creation scenarios, and is not suitable for use on vertical short video platforms in the short term.
It is worth noting that Veo 3 is currently one of the few AI models that supports "synchronous generation of images and audio", which means that in addition to the visual images, the system can also automatically generate matching background sound effects based on the content, making the video more complete.
In addition to Gemini, Google has also added support for Veo 3 image-to-video conversion within Flow, expanding today to 75 new markets, allowing more creators to experience this feature across multiple platforms. The web version of the Gemini app is now available, with the mobile version expected to roll out to more users this week.
Although the image-to-video feature still has obvious limitations in resolution and length, judging from Google's product layout, it is clear that it is intended to strengthen Gemini's strategic positioning as a multimodal generation platform and compete with OpenAI, Runway, Pika and other companies in the AI image creation market.
However, the high subscription threshold is still the biggest obstacle to adoption by general users. Google AI Pro is billed at US$20 per month, which is acceptable for professional creators, but the subscription fee of up to US$250 for Google AI Ultra is clearly targeted at high-end users such as enterprises and image production. It remains to be seen whether an entry-level version or a one-time payment option will be launched for general consumers in the future.
