As previously rumoredGoogle has confirmed that its artificial intelligence service "Bard" will be officially renamed "Gemini". It has also confirmed that it will launch a platform-exclusive app for Android devices, and the iOS platform will be integrated into the Google App. The paid subscription service that was previously mentioned as being considered for launch will be called "Google One AI Premium" and will be available for subscription at a price of US$19.99 per month.
Google explained that the main reason for the name change was to present the large natural language model "Gemini" used behind the artificial intelligence service previously called "Bard". Therefore, it decided to adopt the new "Gemini" naming method. The service previously called "Bard Advanced" will also be renamed "Gemini Advanced" and will use the Gemini Ultra 1.0 version of the large natural language model.
In addition, Duet AI, the technology behind the "Help me write" feature within the Workspace service, will be renamed "Gemini for Workspace," and the Duet AI provided by Google Cloud will also be renamed "Gemini."
Google also confirmed the paid subscription service it previously revealed would be called "Google One AI Premium". It is expected to be available for subscription at a price of US$19.99 per month, with the first two months free and 2TB of online storage space. It can also use the "Gemini" function in Gmail, Google Docs, Google Meet and other services.
The "Gemini" App launched for the Android platform will be able to integrate with the Google Assistant service to provide more artificial intelligence application functions, but on the iOS platform it is integrated with the Google App. Users can quickly enter the "Gemini" conversation function through the switch function above the search bar.
Currently, the exclusive App for the Android platform version will be available for use first, and the iOS platform version will be available in the next few weeks.
Google said it will announce more "Gemini Advanced" development and application-related features for developers and Google Cloud users in the future, and also revealed that it has begun training the next generation of Gemini models.
