It is worth noting that Gemini for Home will be divided into free and paid versions, indicating that Google intends to expand the subscription service market through smart home AI assistants, which is similar to the strategy of Amazon's Alexa+ service.

Through multimodal understanding capabilities, Gemini can also integrate input from other Nest devices, such as calling up surveillance footage, to answer more complex questions or provide real-time suggestions.

Nest's new hardware is also unveiled
Judging from the preview images released by Google, the new Nest Cam is almost the same design as the existing one, butOutside speculationIt will be a brand new version with 2K image quality. At the same time, there are also rumors that Google is preparing to update the Nest Doorbell at the same time, with comprehensive improvements in image quality and detection functions.
In addition, an unknown Nest speaker briefly appeared in the live broadcast of the last press conference. This may be the hardware core of Gemini for Home, acting as a hub connecting home devices and AI assistants. Google may use the new smart speaker as the entry device for Gemini for Home to enhance the overall experience.
A new stage of AI-driven smart home
While Google's smart home development efforts have continued to advance over the past few years, they've largely remained limited to simple voice control and monitoring capabilities. With the introduction of Gemini, Google clearly aims to leverage AI to provide more intuitive interactions and transform the smart home into a proactive, responsive assistant.
If the October update arrives as expected, Google's smart home strategy will enter a new phase. For example, it will enhance the software experience through Gemini and provide a higher-quality foundation with the next-generation Nest hardware. This will not only directly challenge Amazon's new Alexa+ and Apple's HomeKit, but will also redefine the threshold for smart home use.
