Google and HTC earlier announced the signing of a cooperation agreement. Google will pay a transaction amount of US$2.5 million and obtain a non-exclusive license for HTC's XR intellectual property rights. Some members of HTC's XR R&D team will also join Google to promote the development of the XR ecosystem.
Following the signing of this partnership agreement, HTC and Google will continue to explore future collaboration opportunities. The transaction, which remains subject to meeting the terms of the agreement, is expected to close within the first quarter of this year.
At the same time, this cooperation agreement will further strengthen HTC's market strategy for the continued development of the XR ecosystem and the continued development of the HTC VIVE brand. It also indicates that in the future, HTC will launch a more streamlined product portfolio, focus on future platforms, higher operational efficiency, and more financially flexible long-term planning and development.
