Unveiled its first foldable laptop at CES 2020ThinkPad X1 FoldLater, Lenovo announced at IFA 2022 the launch of a new version with a screen size increased to 16.3 inches, and the name still remained ThinkPad X1 Fold.
Lenovo also emphasized that the ThinkPad X16.3 Fold, featuring a 1-inch screen, is the lightest foldable laptop on the market. Its foldable screen design offers a more diverse laptop experience. Compared to the 2020 model, the screen size is 22% larger and the thickness is 25% thinner. Furthermore, the screen borders are further reduced, and the back is made of 100% recyclable woven fabric.
In addition to being enlarged to 16.3 inches, the screen also adopts a foldable OLED panel design. It also has a 4:3 display ratio, a 2560 x 2024 resolution, and supports 600nits HDR and Dolby Vision display specifications. The border is narrowed to 10mm wide, and the body thickness when unfolded is 8.6mm, and the thickness when folded is 17.4mm. It also meets the US military standard MIL-STD-810H protection specification.
It can be unfolded into a tablet or screen, or folded into a laptop mode. It can also be used with a full-size magnetic keyboard equipped with a TrackPoint, turning it into a laptop with a screen size of about 12 inches. The overall weight is about 1.9 kilograms.
In terms of hardware specifications, the new ThinkPad X1 Fold adopts Intel Evo design and complies with vPro specifications. It is equipped with up to Intel's 12th-generation Core i7 processor, paired with Intel Iris Xe display design, and equipped with up to 32GB of LPDDR5 memory and up to 1TB of SSD storage capacity. The battery adopts a 48 Whr specification and supports 65W fast charging, which can charge 4 hours of usable power in half an hour.
Other design features include two USB-C ports that support Thunderbolt 4, and one USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port. It also supports installing a nano SIM card for Internet access. The wireless network corresponds to Wi-Fi 6E, or you can choose 5G networking. It also supports Bluetooth 5.2, and the operating system can be selected up to Windows 11 Pro.
In addition, the new ThinkPad X1 Fold also supports Lenovo stylus operation, can correspond to 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity, its own battery can maintain a standby time of up to 400 days, and the body buttons can be customized with shortcut operation functions.
The new ThinkPad X1 Fold is expected to go on sale in November this year, with a suggested retail price starting at US$11.
