Gogoro announced a partnership with AppleCarKey featureThe company is introducing its two-wheeled electric vehicle models, and is also planning to add support for Apple's "Find My" function to its upcoming new models, allowing users to find the vehicle directly through their iPhone.

You can directly add the key to your wallet and open it by sensing the vehicle
The CarKey feature was officially added to iOS 2020 released by Apple in 13.4. This feature allows users to simulate their iPhone as a "car key" and unlock the vehicle through NFC proximity sensing.
This cooperation makes Gogoro the world's first two-wheeled vehicle brand to adopt Apple CarKey function (and also the first two-wheeled electric vehicle brand to cooperate with Apple CarKey).
Gogoro has previously added a function to simulate a "car key" through the iPhone app or the Apple Watch app, combined with the built-in NFC function. This time, the "car key" simulated by the CarKey function can be used directly without unlocking the iPhone or Apple Watch, and can even be directly added to the rapid transit card in the wallet. Even if the iPhone or Apple Watch is out of power, it can still be used in a minimal power consumption form.

With the iCloud linkage function, the "car key" simulated by the CarKey function can be shared with up to 5 Apple account users through iCloud.
This feature will be available for Gogoro models launched after 2019. Basically, only models that support unlocking with NFC cards can use it. It is expected to be set up on iPhone or Apple Watch through an App upgrade after noon on November 11.
However, the iPhone must be compatible with iPhone XS or later models and must be updated to the new version of iOS 17, while the Apple Watch is only compatible with Apple Watch Series 4 or later versions and must also be upgraded to the latest version of watchOS 10. In addition, the Gogoro App must also be updated to the latest version.

You can search for vehicles through "Search", but there are restrictions.
Another update announced this time is that later-production models using the SSmartcore intelligent driving electronic control design will support Apple's "Find My" function, allowing users to add their vehicles as "Find" items and confirm the vehicle's location through the "Find My" app.

Compared with the previous SSmartcore intelligent driving electronic control design models that can locate the vehicle position through the LTE network module, the "Find" function can use the Bluetooth anonymous connection positioning function to assist in positioning with iPhones, iPads, and Macs located in various places, so as to quickly find the vehicle's location. Positioning through the LTE network function uses the base station signal to find the relative position. There are still some differences in the functions of the two.
However, even though this function is designed to meet positioning and tracking needs with existing hardware, since the "Find" function must comply with Apple's privacy design specifications, the relevant functions can only be written into the hardware when the vehicle is manufactured. Therefore, only models that are available for order after November this year will have this function added, and models currently on the market will not be supported through subsequent updates.
If you want to make the vehicle emit a sound to help find its actual location, this is currently only possible through the Gogoro app. In addition, because the vehicle itself does not have ultra-wideband (UWB) connection capabilities, the vehicle's location cannot be confirmed through the "Find" app's direction-finding function.

The Android version is not yet ready to join
This time, the CarKey function is first launched for iPhone and Apple Watch users, and the vehicle location can be confirmed through "Find". Gogoro said that this is mainly because the number of iOS device users currently reaches 80%, and it has also maintained a high degree of integration with Apple systems and services in the past, so it chose to cooperate with Apple first.
Although the Android operating system also has similar application functions, it is still in the planning stage and is not yet ready to be added.
New colors added to Gogoro Delight and SuperSport models
In conjunction with this update, Gogoro also announced the addition of new colors to the Gogoro Delight and SuperSport models. The former added a new Electric Purple color, while the latter added a Lightning Edition Electric Silver color that looks black but actually turns white when light is refracted.
