Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) celebrated the 20th anniversary of the God of War series at its "State of Play" online event this morning (February 13th). The event announced a remaster of the "Origin Trilogy," and announced that Metal Gear Solid 4, long awaited by veteran gamers, will finally be released on modern consoles via a bundle. Pragmata, which had been repeatedly delayed, is finally scheduled for release in April. Resident Evil 9, which has been heavily promoted, is also set to launch on February 27th.
Classics making a comeback: God of War, Metal Gear Solid 4, Castlevania
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of God of War in March 2026, Santa Monica Studio, a subsidiary of Sony Interactive Entertainment, announced a remake of the God of War Trilogy. While currently in early development, this means viewers will be able to relive the brutal era of Kratos tearing apart the Greek gods with modern graphics.
In addition, the official release of a 2D pixel action prequel, God of War: Son of Sparta, is now available. Developed by Mega Cat Studios, the developer of Wrestling Stories, the game tells the story of young Kratos' training and features the return of Terrence C. Carson, the original voice actor.

Pokémon developer Game Freak is bringing us a brand new IP, Beast of Reincarnation, a post-apocalyptic action RPG where players will adventure through corrupted Japan with a dog companion named "Koo." It is scheduled to launch on August 4th.
