Before officially announcing its GeForce NOW service partnership with Taiwan Mobile, NVIDIA responded to questions from the mashdigi website, including whether there will be dedicated servers in Taiwan, whether it will consider adding local games in the future, and whether there will be other future cooperation models.
Q: Will there be dedicated servers in Taiwan? Or will we primarily collaborate with telecom operators? Is it possible to collaborate with telecom operators other than Taiwan Mobile?
答:In the Asia-Pacific region, we operate the GeForce NOW streaming game service through the GeForce NOW Alliance, which means we form an alliance with local telecom operators and promote streaming games on the telecom side through NVIDIA's RTX servers and the GeForce NOW platform. We do not rule out other cooperation opportunities in the future, and we are very pleased that Taiwan Mobile has become the first GeForce NOW Alliance partner in Taiwan.
Q: Will you consider collaborating on local game content? Will there be any restrictions on content zoning?
答:We are continuously expanding the GeForce NOW game library, and we don't rule out the possibility of Taiwanese games being added in the future. GeForce NOW does have content restrictions, and if other game distributors in Taiwan have a specific game, these will require separate negotiations. Currently, "Gujian Legend Online" has been added.
Q: How is the previous dispute with the gaming industry being handled?
答:The previous beta phase further expanded the GeForce NOW service's game library and allowed many game developers and publishers to confirm their commitment to the service. While some game developers are still evaluating their cloud strategies, the majority are very supportive, including Ubisoft, Bandai Namco, and Epic Games, who have all joined the GeForce NOW service. Currently, 40 of the top 30 most popular games on Steam are available on the GeForce NOW service, and the service is currently working to bring over 1500 games to the service, with new titles expected to be added weekly.
Q: Does the user device also perform the preliminary calculations? Will the PC performance still be better than the mobile phone?
答:The mobile phone mainly decodes the stream and transmits the control commands of the keyboard, mouse or joystick. The execution mode on the computer is almost the same, mainly completing most of the computing needs on the cloud server. Therefore, the actual difference between the mobile phone and computer operating experience is not too big.
Q: Would you consider collaborating with mobile phone brands to promote your services, like the Samsung-Microsoft partnership?
答:It's an interesting collaboration, but we have no plans to announce at the moment.
