Garmin recently announced a small size designinReach Messenger portable satellite communication deviceAfterwards, it has been confirmed that the inReach Mini 2, which has been sold in other markets, will be introduced to the Taiwan market in the near future. It has also been confirmed that it will cooperate with Chunghwa Telecom on satellite communication services, which will allow users to share personal positioning and location tracking 24 hours a day, and provide three different levels of service rates.
Currently, Garmin is exclusively collaborating with Chunghwa Telecom to offer the "Easy Rate," which allows users to call for help and share their location at any time, but with limits on the amount of messages and location information transmitted. There's also the "Easy Rate," which offers unlimited location tracking reports but still has limits on the amount of messages transmitted. For more advanced usage needs, there's the "Expedition Rate," which has no limits on the amount of messages and location information transmitted.
Three plans start at $11.95 per month (with a one-year contract) or $14.95 per month (with a one-month contract). Chunghwa Telecom also offers a Professional plan starting at $19.95 per month for connecting multiple inReach devices and group use.
As for the inReach Mini 2, it is now available for sale through Chunghwa Telecom and is expected to be sold through Garmin brand channels starting November 11st. As for the tariff plan, you must apply for it through Chunghwa Telecom.
inReach Mini 2 itself complies with the US military standard MIL-STD-810 design and is available in two colors: Flame Red and Phantom Black. The suggested retail price is NT$12900, and it can correspond to up to 14 days of continuous use. It is equipped with Iridium satellite, a low-orbit satellite with global coverage, as its communication system. When the mobile phone cannot communicate through the base station, it can connect to the satellite communication signal and allow users to send distress messages and share their location information. When others receive the message, they can communicate through reverse text messages or provide rescue based on the location information.
In addition, the inReach Mini 2 also supports the return-to-home (RTH) function. In an emergency, the SOS button on the device can directly send a distress call to the Garmin IERCC International Rescue Center, providing rescue resources XNUMX/XNUMX.
