The recently announcedGalaxy Watch Active 2Samsung announced today (10/2) the launch of this smartwatch in Taiwan, with 44mm stainless steel and 44mm aluminum versions available. The colors include midnight black, champagne gold, midnight black, glacier silver, and rose gold.
The Galaxy Watch Active 2 uses the Samsung Exynos 9110 processor and the Tizen-based Wearable OS 4.0. It comes in two sizes: 44mm and 40mm. The body material is divided into stainless steel and aluminum versions. The battery capacity is divided into 340mAh and 247mAh. The stainless steel version will be paired with a leather strap, while the aluminum version will be paired with a fluororubber (FKM, Fluoroelastomer) strap.
In addition, the watch itself adopts a circular design and supports the Super AMOLED screen with Always on Display design. The body supports 5 ATM and IP68 level waterproof, and complies with the military standard MIL-STD-810G design of each country. It also replenishes power by wireless charging.
This time, the Galaxy Watch Active 2 replaces the original physical bezel operation interface with a new digital bezel rotating interface, allowing users to operate it clockwise or counterclockwise using touch gestures.
The Galaxy Watch Active 2 also allows for quick responses to online social media interactions like Facebook through the watch interface, and supports real-time voice and text translation in over 16 languages. While an LTE-enabled version is available for connectivity, allowing for a continuous internet connection and phone calls, only Wi-Fi and Bluetooth-enabled versions are currently available in Taiwan; the LTE version has not yet been introduced.
Other functions also include heart rate measurement and fitness recording functions, allowing users to record 39 sports modes, including 7 fitness modes: running, walking, cycling, swimming, rowing machine, elliptical fitness machine and dynamic fitness. It also supports automatic judgment and activation, and users can also achieve training goals through 7 different running plans.
The Galaxy Watch Active 2's newly added health sensors will enable faster data readings, making it easier for users to continuously track their exercise progress. It also supports real-time stress monitoring with Samsung Health. Furthermore, in partnership with the sleep and meditation app Calm, Samsung has integrated meditation courses in English, German, and Spanish into the Galaxy Watch Active 2, and can help improve sleep habits through enhanced sleep analysis algorithms.
When used with a Samsung Galaxy watch, the Galaxy Watch Active 2 can be used as a camera controller to remotely control functions such as taking photos and recording videos, switching between the front and rear cameras, and setting a shooting timer. It also supports Samsung Health, SmartThings, and Samsung Pay. Users can also use the Bixby digital assistant service to confirm watch content, and Knox technology ensures proper protection of device information security.
In terms of music applications, Samsung has also partnered with Spotify, allowing users to browse and listen to music on the Spotify service after logging into their Samsung account through their mobile phone or Galaxy Watch Active 2.
Galaxy Watch Active 2 will be available in three versions in Taiwan: a 3mm stainless steel version in midnight black and champagne gold, with a suggested retail price of NT$44; a 13500mm aluminum version in midnight black and glacier silver, with a suggested retail price of NT$44; and a 10500mm aluminum version in rose gold only, with a suggested retail price of NT$40. It is expected to be launched in Taiwan on October 9500.
To coincide with the launch, Samsung will offer a free wireless flash charging pad and a NT$11 voucher for designated UNDER ARMOUR HOVR jogging shoes for those who purchase the Galaxy Watch Active 30 before November 2th, while designated watch straps will be 8% off.
