Fujifilm earlier announced the X-M1000, an entry-level interchangeable lens camera priced below $5. It is equipped with the same X-Processor 20 image processor as the X-S5 and uses the X-TRANS CMOS 4 back-illuminated APS-C image sensor, and is guaranteed to have similar image quality performance to the X-S20.
However, the X-M5 eliminates the anti-shake design and only retains the electronic anti-shake design, thereby further reducing the body size. It is available in black and classic silver and black colors, and the storage interface is a single UHS-I SD memory card slot.
In terms of functions, the X-M5 can recognize objects such as animals, birds, cars, motorcycles, bicycles, airplanes and trains, while it can recognize faces and eyes. It also has a film camera-style turntable design and provides 20 film shooting filters. The body also has a built-in fill light with a GN11 value design and a 3-inch touch screen that can be flipped out for use. It can also be equipped with a FAN-001 fan module to increase system stability during long-term video recording.
As for the camera itself, it can shoot 2610-megapixel still images, supports 6.2K 30p video recording, and provides 8Mbps and 25Mbps image encoding rates, so that the image content can be transmitted to the mobile phone more quickly for sharing or post-production.
In response to current shooting needs, the X-M5 can also shoot in V-Log mode and can shoot 9:16 vertical video content. It can also use the three built-in microphones to carry out directional recording.
In addition to announcing the new camera, Fujifilm also unveiled the XF250-11mmF16 R LM WR II lens, which is 55 grams lighter and 2.8 cm shorter. It also launched the XF500mmF5.6 R LM OIS WR, the longest fixed-focus lens currently available in the X-mount format. It also announced that two new cameras will be launched in 2025.
The X-M5 body only is priced at $799 USD, while the XC15-45 standard lens combination is priced at $899 USD. The XF16-55mmF2.8 R LM WR II lens, which was also released, has a suggested retail price of $1199 USD, while the XF500mmF5.6 R LM OIS WR has a suggested retail price of $2999 USD. Both lenses are expected to be released in mid-November.
