Fujifilm recently announced the launch of a medium format camera with a sunken barrel lens system and a compact body design.GFX100 RFToday (4/17), the Taiwan general agent Hengchang announced the price of this camera in Taiwan. It will be sold at NT$16 and will also be available in black and silver-black.
The GFX100 RF features a lightweight lens system with an equivalent 28mm f/4 aperture, making the lens less obtrusive than the interchangeable lenses found on typical medium format cameras. Its compact design also reduces the camera's size, resulting in a weight of just 735g including the battery and memory card.
The body is made of aluminum and is equipped with a 0.5-inch, 576 million pixel OLED electronic viewfinder with a magnification ratio of 0.84x. The back is equipped with a 3.15-inch, flip-up touch screen and dual SD memory card slots as storage media. It can support UHS-II and V90 storage specifications. The battery uses the NP-W235 model, the same battery specification as the GFX100S II, which can continuously shoot 802 still photos or continuously record videos up to 100 minutes in length.
The slim-body lens system, with a 28mm equivalent f/4 aperture, offers a depth of field equivalent to that of a 35mm full-frame camera with an f/2.8 aperture. This design effectively reduces the camera's bulk, allowing for a minimum focusing distance of 20cm. Furthermore, images shot with a fixed focal length can be cropped to create a zoom effect equivalent to 45mm, 63mm, or 80mm. The system also features a 4-stop ND filter, the highest level of neutral density ever achieved by a GFX series camera.
Through the central shutter, the GFX100 RF can trigger the flash at any shutter speed, up to 1/4000 second with the mechanical shutter and 1/16000 second with the electronic shutter, while the continuous shooting speed can reach 6 frames per second. Hybrid focus combined with artificial intelligence subject recognition improves the shooting speed of animals, birds, vehicles, bicycles, airplanes, trains, etc. It also supports face recognition and eye focus.
The dynamic video recording part supports DCI 4K 30p 4:2:2 and F-Log13 format with 2 stops of dynamic range. The recording process also supports electronic stabilization function, and can record content in Apple ProRes format when connected to an external SSD storage device via USB-C.
The camera's operating interface includes a top dial for adjusting shutter speed and ISO sensitivity. It also supports up to 20 film filters, including 7 standard color film filters and 13 distinctive film filters. It can be combined with 9 image aspect ratios to create up to 180 image styles.
