The Washington Post quoted sources as saying, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) began investigating OpenAI to clarify whether it was involved in violating personal privacy protection laws.
Prior to this, the Italian government had also launched an investigation into OpenAI regarding the impact of the ChatGPT service on user privacy and security, and restricted the use of ChatGPT in Italy. The service was only allowed to be provided in Italy again after providing a more detailed privacy policy.
This time, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission is demanding 20 pages of documents on how to address risks associated with artificial intelligence models, which will obviously pose challenges to OpenAI's development in the United States.
The US Federal Trade Commission believes that the ChatGPT service may affect user transaction information and usage records, and is also concerned that it may generate false information or malicious content, thereby affecting user perception. However, OpenAI recently clarified that its service does not pose a threat to user privacy and stated that it will carefully monitor the information generated by artificial intelligence.
