In the recent Elon MuskAppealAfter OpenAI departed from its non-profit status and became a "de facto subsidiary" of Microsoft, maximizing Microsoft's profits rather than pursuing the welfare of human development, former Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal and other former Twitter executivesSue Elon Musk together, and demanded more than $1.28 million in severance pay.
Including Parag Agrawal, as well as former Twitter CFO Ned Segal, former Twitter General Counsel Vijaya Gadde and former Twitter General Counsel Sean Edgett, in a 39-page lawsuit, they alleged that Elon Musk denied previous promises after acquiring Twitter and forced former Twitter executives to leave by accusing them of misconduct.
The lawsuit alleges that before acquiring Twitter, Elon Musk promised to pay substantial severance packages to Twitter's top executives, including one year's salary and hundreds of thousands of stock options. However, these executives allege that after the acquisition, Musk reneged on his promise and resorted to specific tactics to pressure Twitter's top executives to leave.
In addition to facing lawsuits from Parag Agrawal and others, Elon Musk is also facing lawsuits from other former Twitter executives, alleging that Elon Musk should pay a total of $5 million in severance pay to employees who were fired after Twitter was acquired. Elon Musk is also being sued for not paying Twitter's partners, landlords, suppliers and consultants after acquiring Twitter.
