XRSPACE, founded by former HTC CEO Peter Chou and headed by former Taiwan LINE General Manager Vincent Tao, today (May 5) announced the launch of its first 26G mixed reality headset, XRSPACE MOVA. It also announced XRSPACE MANOVA, a social interaction platform in the form of virtual reality, allowing users to become a part of virtual reality, thereby achieving a more immersive virtual reality experience and a more realistic virtual reality social interaction feeling.
Make users more willing to wear it
Tao Yunzhi said that the current experience of using virtual reality devices is mostly focused on personal feelings, and various virtual reality content is experienced through different apps, but it still lacks the feeling of interacting with friends, like-minded people, and others. Therefore, after taking off the virtual reality headset, most people are not willing to use it as frequently as mobile phones.
In order to attract more people to use it, Zhou Yongming believes that the virtual reality headset worn directly on the user's head must be lighter, smaller and easier to use.
As a result, the XRSPACE MOVA weighs only 470 grams, significantly smaller than similar products. It also utilizes the Snapdragon XR845 55G reference design, based on the Snapdragon 5 processor and the Snapdragon X2 5G connectivity chip, offering significantly higher computing power. This not only makes wearing the headset less burdensome, but also enables 5G connectivity to transmit more stable and clear virtual reality images, while also providing extended battery life thanks to its 4600mAh battery.
Regarding interactive operation, Chou emphasized that XRSPACE MOVA can use gesture recognition to allow users to use their hands for more natural interactive operations, rather than relying on handheld controllers. It can also use sensors within the headset, combined with artificial intelligence learning, to identify the user's full-body posture during operation. For example, it can determine whether the user is standing or slightly squatting, allowing the user's virtual portrait to be presented in a more natural form in virtual reality.
In addition, voice recognition allows the system to determine the user's current expression, allowing the virtual portrait to fully present the user's emotions. Combined with natural body movements, the virtual portrait representing the user can be presented in a more vivid form in virtual reality. At the same time, a set of virtual portraits that are close to the user's facial features can be quickly generated by taking a selfie, and the appearance details can even be further customized.
According to the information currently released, XRSPACE MOVA can recognize general gestures, clapping, handshakes, high-fives, cheers, as well as actions such as throwing darts and shooting basketballs. Full-body movements can recognize standing, walking, squatting, or stretching the body to block, etc. At the same time, the expression part can correspond to different emotional expressions.
In addition to operating through gestures and other forms, XRSPACE MOVA can also be operated with other controllers.
Online virtual world XRSPACE MANOVA
The concept of XRSPACE hopes to enable users to have deeper social interactions through virtual reality. Therefore, in the virtual reality social interaction platform XRSPACE MANOVA, users can explore and interact through virtual portraits representing themselves.
In actual usage scenarios, the XRSPACE MOVA front-end camera is used to scan and construct a personal space (for example, scanning one's own room) through artificial intelligence analysis, allowing users to experience various virtual reality contents alone in this private space or invite friends to gather in virtual reality. For enterprise applications, this function can also be used to conduct remote conference discussions.
As for the virtual reality space open to the public, it will be modeled after the real-world interactions. Theaters can be built where everyone can watch movies, or parks can be built where everyone can exercise together. Various manufacturers will even be allowed to build different space content, allowing users to experience more content through virtual reality.
Currently, in Taiwan, we have cooperated with industry players including Chunghwa Telecom, Wei Chuan Long, Yung Ching Real Estate Group, Fengchao Music, Sanbaide Education Group, Gogo English, GQ, VOUGE, and KLOOK. At the same time, we also plan to cooperate with more content in the future to allow users to have more interactive experiences on the XRSPACE MANOVA platform.
In terms of telecom operator collaboration, in addition to collaborating with Chunghwa Telecom in Taiwan, XRSPACE plans to expand its collaboration with telecom operators in various regions around the world and access more content services. It also plans to cooperate with global developers such as Angry Birds, AirPano, Digital Domain, Resolution Games, Magic Horizons, Iconic Engine, iStaging and Futuretown to enrich the XRSPACE MANOVA platform services and enable XRSPACE MOVA to respond to more application services.
It is expected to be launched in Taiwan first in the third quarter of this year
In terms of launch timing, XRSPACE MOVA and XRSPACE MANOVA are expected to be launched first in the Taiwan market in the third quarter of this year. XRSPACE MOVA will be sold at US$599, while the services included in XRSPACE MANOVA are expected to be available on a subscription or free basis.
