Nothing has announced the launch of a brand new over-ear headphone, the "Nothing Headphone (a)". As an affordable alternative to the previous Headphone 1, this new headphone not only continues the brand's unique design language but also incorporates rich colors and focuses on its extremely impressive battery life.
Breaking the records with a 135-hour battery life
The biggest highlight of Nothing Headphone (a) is its amazing battery life. The official specifications state that it provides up to 135 hours of playback time on a single charge, meaning it can play continuously for more than five days.
In comparison, the Sony WH-CH520 headphones, praised for their long battery life, offer approximately 50 hours of use, demonstrating the Headphone's (a) overwhelming advantage in battery capacity. Even when the battery is depleted, a mere 5-minute fast charge at an outlet provides 5 hours of music playback.
Physical operation interface and adaptive noise reduction
In terms of appearance, Headphone (a) is available in four vibrant colors: black, white, pink, and bright yellow. The overall body weighs only 310 grams and is equipped with breathable memory foam ear pads to ensure a comfortable fit and all-day wear.
The user interface retains the design of previous models, featuring physical buttons, levers, and a scroll wheel, providing a more sensitive and intuitive experience for volume adjustment and track switching than touch controls. Users can also switch between different streaming media and podcast applications without taking out their phones via a dedicated button, which can also be customized to trigger the camera shutter or start recording, among other actions.
In addition, these headphones support Adaptive Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), which uses three microphones to monitor the external environment and automatically adjust the noise cancellation intensity. They also feature simulated spatial audio effects and are deeply integrated with the Nothing X App, providing a wealth of functions such as equalizer (EQ) adjustments.
Pricing and Availability
Compared to the $300 Headphone 1, Nothing's new Headphone (a) has a suggested retail price of only $200, making it relatively affordable. Pre-orders are currently open, with most colors shipping starting March 13th, while the yellow version is expected to ship in April.
