In response to last year's amendment by the Taiwan Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) allowing food delivery platforms, taxi and passenger transport services, and parking services to integrate electronic payment services as a payment method, foodpanda announced a partnership with PX Payment (Full Payment), a digital payment platform. This partnership aims to enable payment without a credit card, creating a food delivery payment ecosystem accessible to all ages and enabling a comprehensive, all-scenario experience. Furthermore, with Apple expanding access to the iPhone's NFC functionality and the FSC's recent relaxation of regulations, PX Payment is not ruling out the possibility of using Full Payment for future Taipei Metro rides and other applications.
PX Mart stated that QuanPay currently has more than 600 million members in Taiwan, while foodpanda attracts more than 100 million users in Taiwan every day. Therefore, through the cooperation between the two parties, it is expected that QuanPay services will be able to expand from application scenarios such as physical channels to food delivery payment needs.
Currently, both foodpanda and Uber Eats can use Apple Pay and LINE Pay as payment methods. This cooperation with PX Mart allows foodpanda to additionally use PX Mart as a payment tool for food deliveries, allowing users who do not have credit cards, such as students and the elderly, to complete payments by binding their accounts to PX Mart.
Since QuanPay can not only be linked to credit cards and bank accounts, but also supports online transfer and payment functions, it has become a payment tool that can provide more flexible payment in cooperation with foodpanda. Users can use foodpanda's food delivery service smoothly even if they do not have a credit card.
The collaboration is expected to create a win-win situation by leveraging the age distribution, user scale, and application scenarios of both parties' user groups. This will allow foodpanda to attract more retail channel users, while PX UnionPay will be able to increase the activity and stickiness of its full-service payment users.
In addition, PX Mart also revealed that after Apple expands the authorization of the iPhone's NFC function and the current relaxation of relevant regulations by the Financial Supervisory Commission, it does not rule out the possibility of using PX Mart for future Taipei Metro ride payments and other application scenarios. However, this will mainly depend on the results of subsequent discussions with the Taipei Metro. At the same time, it is also expected that PX Mart will be able to penetrate more application scenarios.
As for foodpanda's pandapay service, which is currently used for consumer refunds, although it is currently used as an electronic payment tool in Southeast Asian markets such as the Philippines, foodpanda stated that it has no plans to use it as an electronic payment tool in the Taiwanese market at this stage.
