Following the phenomenal success of *Black Myth: Wukong*, Chinese developer Game Science released the second installment in the series today (February 10th).Black Myth: Zhong Kui The first gameplay video for (Black Myth: Zhong Kui).
However, if you're expecting a cool scene of Zhong Kui wielding his Seven-Star Sword to slay demons, you might be surprised. This video, specially made to welcome the Year of the Horse 2026, is themed around "eating."
There are no battles, no gameplay, just a complete "Black Myth on the tip of your tongue".
According to the official statement, this video was indeed recorded using in-engine footage from the early stages of game development, showcasing exceptional lighting and material detail. However, the video focuses entirely on scenes of "food" and "dining," creating a stark contrast with the game's original dark mythology setting.
In response, game producer Feng Ji (Yocar) posted on Weibo to "confess." He humorously stated that he knew players might be confused after watching, but he asked everyone not to take it too seriously: "There are no controls, no combat, no gameplay, no Zhong Kui in this video, because we didn't make any."
Drawing inspiration from folk legends, it continues the gameplay of single-player ARPGs.
Although the video is quite boisterous, the official team has confirmed several key pieces of information:
• The official sequel:Black Myth: Zhong Kui is the second installment in the Black Myth Universe.
• theme:The story will be based on ancient Chinese mythology and folk legends, with the protagonist being Zhong Kui, the "Demon Exorcist".
• How to play:Continuing the high production standards of its predecessor, it adopts a single-player action role-playing game (ARPG) mode.
Feng Ji explained that he chose "eating" as the theme for the first reveal because he realized that only "eating" can bring the most stable sense of happiness. He hopes to use this to wish players a good appetite in the Year of the Horse and enjoy meals with family and friends.
