Google's new Pixel Buds retain the original name but feature a new true wireless design, keeping pace with the current trend. They also offer improved sound quality and ambient noise reduction for optimal listening. For added safety, the Pixel Buds retain some ambient sound, allowing users to remain aware of surrounding sounds while wearing them, preventing them from becoming overly focused on the sound and ignoring their surroundings.
Compared with true wireless earphones launched by other manufacturers, the new Pixel Buds created by Google are relatively low-key and do not appear abrupt when worn on the ears. At the same time, the earphones can be firmly fixed on the ears with the earplugs and soft brackets, maintaining a certain wearing comfort.
As for sound quality, the earbuds provide a tight seal, ensuring excellent sound quality. However, since we weren't able to provide on-site listening experience, it's difficult to verify the actual listening experience. However, the earbuds feel quite lightweight overall. Google also claims they can maintain a stable connection outdoors at distances up to an American football field, and maintain clear listening indoors even up to three rooms away.
The battery life is good for 5 hours of continuous use, and can be extended to 24 hours with the charging case. It also supports ambient noise reduction and enhanced call reception through beamforming technology. The new Adaptive Sound technology can even automatically adjust the volume of the earphones to the appropriate level when moving from a quiet environment to a noisy environment, without the need for manual adjustment.
As for the charging and carrying case, it adopts a very rounded appearance design, and it also fixes the left and right earphones through magnetic suction. It is charged through the USB-C port.
In terms of earbud functionality, the new Pixel Buds not only enable direct access to the Google Assistant digital assistant, but also support real-time language translation, similar to the previous Pixel Buds. Voice input via the new Pixel Buds is kept private and secure thanks to the Titan chip.
Google expects to officially launch this headphone accessory in the spring of 2020, with a suggested retail price of US$179. There are currently no plans to introduce it to the Taiwanese market. It will be available in four colors: black, white, green, and orange.
