Imran Chaudhri, a former Apple interface designer who has participated in the design of products including Mac and iPhone, left Apple in 2017 with his wife Bethany Bongiorno, who also worked at Apple in charge of software engineering. In 2018, they founded the startup Humane, which recently announced the launch ofAn artificial intelligence portable device called Ai Pin.
Imran Chaudhri unveiled the prototype design of Ai Pin at the TED Talk event in April 2023. It is a device that can be put into your pocket and has digital assistant services, camera and projector functions. Users can also interact with it verbally through a microphone.
With the built-in networking function, Ai Pin can operate through artificial intelligence technology to answer user questions or translate user spoken content into different languages. It can also allow users to use a virtual keyboard through projection interaction and use the camera to activate computer vision analysis function to determine the nutritional value of the photographed food.
Like other artificial intelligence application products, Ai Pin also claims that the deeper the user's interaction with it, the better it can understand the user's real needs and provide suggestions that are more in line with personal needs.
Ai Pin's design appeal echoes the market's belief that computing will become "ubiquitous." Users may no longer need a PC or a mobile phone, but instead rely on an internet-connected, interactive device to access the information they need at any time.
Humane has received investments from investors including Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Microsoft, Qualcomm, Volvo Cars Tech, SK Networks, LG, and Tiger Global, raising a total of over $2.3 million.
The specific launch date of Ai Pin has not yet been announced. Currently, it is only available through the official website to join the waiting list.
