Reuters News reported that the European Commission submitted documents earlier showing that the EU antitrust agency has recently renewed its investigation into Adobe's acquisition ofFigma, an online design collaboration platformInvestigation into the transaction.
The investigation concluded in September this year and required Adobe and Figma to provide more supporting information. It is expected to evaluate whether the transaction has significantly affected competition in the design software market within the next three months.
Adobe acquired the online design collaboration platform Figma for $9 billion in September last year. Even though it later emphasized that the two parties would maintain independent operations, considering that Figma will become an asset of Adobe, the European Union antitrust agency believes that it may affect competition in the global design market and has therefore launched an investigation into the transaction.
In addition to the EU,U.S. Department of JusticeAn investigation into Adobe's transaction was recently launched, with concerns that Adobe's acquisition of Figma will affect the platform selection rights of most professional designers. It may also significantly increase the usage rate of Adobe's services, causing unfair competition and development to other creative platforms and tool providers.
However, Adobe emphasized that its market focus is completely different from that of Figma, and explained that Figma mainly focuses on building interactive products related to online collaboration platforms, while Adobe itself focuses on creative tool products. It also stated that it will cooperate with relevant regulatory agencies and hopes to successfully complete this acquisition transaction within this year.
