SufferNovel Coronavirus OutbreakAffected by the pandemic, Ericsson also announced earlier that it would cancel its participation in the MWC 2020 exhibition.
Ericsson announced that it will withdraw from MWC 2020 due to the ongoing impact of the novel coronavirus pandemic and the inability to ensure the health and safety of its employees and customers. Ericsson explained that its planned MWC 2020 exhibits will be presented through independent "Ericsson Unbox" events in each region.
Previously LGA statement has been issued, stating that they had decided to cancel their participation in this year's MWC 2020 due to concerns about the potential for cross-infection between their employees and exhibitors at the conference, and to prevent the spread of the recent novel coronavirus outbreak. ZTE also announced the cancellation of its previously scheduled press events at MWC 2020, but emphasized that it would not withdraw from the MWC 2020 exhibition.
As for Xiaomi, OPPO, realme, Samsung and other industry players, they are still participating in the exhibition. GSMA, the organizer of the MWC 2020 event, stated that the impact of the new coronavirus outside of China is not yet obvious. However, because the conference attendees come from all over the world and there is a large flow of people in and out, they emphasize that they will closely monitor the impact of the new coronavirus and will also take corresponding measures to avoid potential impacts. At this stage, there are no plans to cancel this year's exhibition activities.
However, whether LG and Ericsson's announcement of their withdrawal from the exhibition will trigger more originally scheduled exhibitors to withdraw depends on the recent spread of the epidemic.
