Epic Games announced that it will provide developers with online voice chat and anti-cheating services in games, and will make them available free of charge as Epic Oneline Services. They will support Windows, Mac, Linux, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android platforms, and are more compatible with content created by major game engines on the market.
The online voice chat feature is cross-platform and cross-device, supporting both one-on-one private and group chats. It operates through Epic Games' servers. According to Epic Games, this online chat feature has been extensively tested in Fortnite, ensuring a high degree of stability and support for millions of players simultaneously online.
As for the anti-cheating service launched simultaneously this time, it will make it easier for developers to avoid cheating when designing games. It also supports cross-platform and cross-device use. Although it cannot guarantee to block all game cheating, it is expected to reduce the impact of most cheating on the fairness of game play.
By providing these two functions, EPIC Games expressed the hope that more developers can make good use of its services, even if they are not built using EPIC Games' Unreal Engine game engine, so as to cooperate with more game developers.
