During the recently concluded Minecraft LIVE TwitchCon livestream, Mojang Studios shared a series of major updates for Minecraft players worldwide.
This livestream not only confirmed that the next major update, "Chaos Cubed," will officially launch on June 16th, but also revealed details of the third update, expected to launch in the fall of 2026. Furthermore, the highly anticipated live-action sequel was officially titled "A Minecraft Movie Squared," and the spin-off title "Minecraft Dungeons 2" was announced for release in 2026, among other exciting announcements.
As can be seen from this announcement, Mojang is actively expanding and consolidating the ecosystem of the vast sandbox universe of Minecraft by breaking through the physics mechanics of its core gameplay, collaborating with cross-industry IPs (such as LEGO), and promoting derivative film and game works.
Chaos Blocks will be released on June 16th, introducing a brand new physics mechanism.
As the highlight of the next version, Mojang has officially revealed the full details of the "Chaos Blocks" update and confirmed its release date as June 16th. The game will add special landscapes such as sulfur caves, sulfur springs, sulfur pools, and sulfur spikes, and will also add sulfur, cinnabar series blocks, and the core "sulfur block".
The sulfur block will introduce a brand-new physical gameplay element to the game. The block's movement properties will change as it absorbs substances, allowing players to experience different physical states such as bouncing, sliding, moving at high speeds, or moving slowly. This mechanism is expected to unlock richer traps and parkour gameplay for redstone players and map creators.
Fall 2026 Update Preview: Focus on Exploration and Multiplayer Fun
In addition to the recent update, the live stream also revealed the first batch of content for the third version update in 2026, which is expected to be released this fall.
• Pale/Dappled Forest:This is a brand-new ecosystem with ochre red as the main color, with poplar trees and red shrubs growing inside, and abandoned campsites scattered for players to explore.
• New building materials:To complement the new biome, the official release will include a full set of poplar blocks, as well as wool steps and wool stairs, further expanding players' building material library.
Film and spin-off releases in tandem: Sequel to "McMob Movie" named and new monsters unveiled in "Dungeon 2".
In terms of cross-media development, Mojang and Warner Bros. have joined forces to deliver a bombshell, announcing that the IP influence of this blocky world is continuing to expand outward.
The live-action sequel has been officially titled *A Minecraft Movie Squared*, and a trailer showcasing its exclusive logo and cast has been released for the first time. To coincide with the film's promotion, an "Architecture Challenge" has been launched, with the winning design having the opportunity to appear directly in the film's main feature or end credits (the contest ends on July 6, 2026).
In addition, the official announcement of the new monster "Twisted Warden" for Minecraft Dungeons 2 has been made. This highly anticipated action RPG sequel is confirmed to be officially launched this year, and players can now add it to their wish list.

To continuously enrich the in-game marketplace content, Mojang has also brought highly topical crossover collaborations and community creations this time.
LEGO-themed add-ons: The free add-on "Chicken Mounts," developed in collaboration with the LEGO Group and Noxcrew, is now officially available. Players can collect up to 15 rideable chicken mounts with special abilities (such as lava walking and flying) in the main world, and equip them with banners, armor, and claws.
