At the opening ceremony of the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) 2023, Tesla CEO Elon Musk predicted that in the future, machine-driven intelligent computing will account for a larger proportion than human brain thinking. He also called for attention to the risks associated with artificial intelligence. He also predicted that Tesla will be able to achieve Level 4 to Level 5 fully autonomous driving technology by the end of this year.
Elon Musk believes that artificial intelligence only accounts for a part of all machine-driven intelligent computing, and the computing power between machines and humans will continue to expand. He believes that this is a critical moment in the development of human history.
The computing power that humans can create means that machines can create even greater computing power. Especially in the future, when humanoid robots like Tesla's Optimus become popular, the computing power gap between humans and machines will continue to widen. Therefore, humans must pay more attention to whether the results of future machine calculations will have a greater impact.
Regarding Tesla's current idea of creating humanoid robots, Elon Musk emphasized that they will mainly be used to replace humans' previous tedious, monotonous and repetitive work, or to perform highly risky work tasks, but will by no means replace all human work.
Elon Musk, on the other hand, anticipates Tesla will be able to achieve Level 4 to Level 5 fully autonomous driving technology by the end of this year. This technology is expected to transform traditional vehicle usage in the future. For example, fully autonomous driving could significantly increase vehicle utilization, rather than requiring parking spaces for the majority of the time. It could even be combined with an all-electric drive system to enable automated passenger and cargo transportation.
However, although artificial intelligence can bring more changes and convenience, Elon Musk still emphasized the importance of regulating artificial intelligence technology in the future.
