EA announced earlier that it would rename its original EA Games business unit to EA Entertainment, which will become two independent business units under EA along with EA Sports in the future.
EA CEO Andrew Wilson said that by allowing the two business units to operate independently, its game content development will be more unique, and it will also have greater flexibility and speed to create games that attract players.
Laura Miele, the original head of EA Games studio, will continue to lead EA Entertainment, and there will be basically no significant changes to the EA Games management team. For example, Apex Legends, the Star Wars series, and the Battlefield series are still under the responsibility of Apex Legends, while Samantha Ryan is still in charge of lifestyle games, and Jeff Karp is in charge of mobile games.
EA Sports will continue to focus on sports gaming, with Cam Weber as president of that business. Other changes include David Tinson, executive vice president and chief experience officer, leading EA Experiences. Chris Bruzzo, previously in that role, will retire at the end of June.
