E Ink Technology Co., Ltd. has partnered with Intel. With the help of Intel's Smart Base platform and AI ecosystem, E Ink Technology has introduced its own color e-paper technology to create a new generation of laptop touchpad modules with visual functions, becoming one of the innovative applications in the AI PC era.
The electronic paper touchpad becomes a smart assistant interface that can display notes, weather, and AI content.
E Ink explains that this innovative design not only retains the intuitive operation of a traditional touchpad, but also functions as a "second screen" with low-power display features, supporting personalized information display. Users can view notes and weather information even when the laptop is turned off, and even display generated content such as meeting summaries and recommended gaming strategies with the help of an AI assistant.
This technology relies on the Intel Smart Base platform and AI Assistant Builder tool, allowing the e-paper touch area to not only be a hardware upgrade, but also be closely integrated with AI functions to achieve an interactive mode that is close to daily usage needs.
Unique advantages: low power consumption, paper-like feel, and the ability to display personalized content on a regular basis
E Ink emphasizes that e-paper displays offer inherent flicker-free, low blue light, and a comfortable, paper-like visual experience, effectively reducing eye fatigue from prolonged use. They are particularly well-suited for professional laptop users and creators who work long hours. Furthermore, since e-paper displays only consume power when updating the screen, they can extend laptop battery life compared to traditional self-luminous displays that serve as auxiliary displays.
Aiming at the next generation of AI PC devices, balancing aesthetics and functionality
This e-paper touch module seamlessly integrates into the laptop's palm rest, providing a new user experience while also aligning with the future AIPC design trend of pursuing thinness, power efficiency, and personalization. Leveraging the Intel IPF reference architecture, E Ink is also poised to expand this design to a wider range of laptops and devices in various sizes and configurations.
Combining AI to expand future possibilities, e-paper application scenarios evolve again
From traditional e-readers and smart tags to its current foray into laptop interaction, E Ink continues to expand its e-paper technology into diverse application scenarios. Beyond laptops, this technology may also expand into keyboard covers, case displays, and interactive interfaces for portable devices, injecting innovative elements that combine environmental friendliness and functionality into personal devices in the AI era.
Through this collaboration with Intel, E Ink once again demonstrates that e-paper is more than just a reading tool, but rather a smart display solution with high flexibility and low-carbon potential, finding a new role in the AI PC ecosystem.
