The partnership with Amazon is expected to increase Grubhub+ usage among Prime members.
Amazon currently has approximately 1.5 million Prime members in the United States, so this partnership will significantly increase Grubhub+ subscription services. Even after a year, a certain number of users will continue to renew their subscriptions, which will bring greater benefits to Grubhub and Just Eat Takeaway.
In this cooperation, Amazon will be able to acquire approximately 2% of Grubhub's equity, and can even obtain up to 13% of Grubhub's equity by increasing the number of new users through this cooperation.
However, despite signing this cooperation with Amazon, Just Eat Takeaway is still actively seeking opportunities to sell all or part of Grubhub's equity. The reason is that Grubhub's accumulated losses continue to expand, with losses reaching 4.03 million euros last year alone. At the same time, this cooperation with Amazon is also expected to cause Grubhub to incur additional losses due to the increase in the proportion of delivery.
