DJI has launched the Mini 5 Pro, its next-generation lightweight flagship drone. While maintaining its lightweight design of less than 250 grams, it features a series-first 1-inch, 5000-megapixel sensor, enabling cleaner images and greater detail in low-light conditions. A forward-facing LiDAR sensor also enables obstacle detection and return-to-home even at night or in low-light conditions, further enhancing flight safety.
The Mini 5 Pro is slightly larger and taller than its predecessor, the Mini 4 Pro, but still weighs 249.9 grams, allowing it to be used without a flight permit. The newly added LiDAR sensor on the front of the aircraft enables obstacle avoidance in as little as 1 lux and supports low-light return-to-home (RTH) when GPS signals are insufficient. The aircraft is also equipped with an omnidirectional obstacle avoidance sensor, combined with ActiveTrack 360 omnidirectional intelligent subject tracking technology, for safe flight in confined spaces or during sports.
Photography is the highlight of this upgrade. The 1-inch sensor, the same specifications as the Air 3S, delivers a wider dynamic range and cleaner shadow detail. It also supports up to 4K 120fps video recording and 10-bit D-LogM color mode, officially claimed to support up to 14 stops of dynamic range, facilitating post-production color grading. Furthermore, digital zoom has been increased to 2x, with support for nearly lossless magnification, and an enhanced portrait mode for more natural skin tones.
The gimbal design has also evolved, now capable of rotating up to 225 degrees for true vertical shooting (no longer cropped), and supports a "rotate" sub-mode for one-click video, waypoint flight, time-lapse photography, and other shooting modes. The upgraded ActiveTrack 360 technology maintains more stable lens motion when tracking high-speed moving subjects like cyclists and runners.
As for battery life, it's been increased to 36 minutes of flight time on a single battery, and up to 52 minutes with the long-life battery. Furthermore, with the two-way charging hub and a 65W charger, all three batteries can be fully charged in approximately 115 minutes, significantly improving efficiency.
The DJI Mini 5 Pro is currently available in Taiwan and other markets. The price in Taiwan starts at NT$22090, including accessories such as the RC-N3 controller. If you choose the RC-2 controller with a screen and two additional battery sets, the suggested retail price of the free-flying kit is NT$31690.
