After launching two generations and adding a Mini model, DJI officially unveiled the third-generation wireless microphone, the DJI Mic 3. Not only does it achieve breakthroughs in size and weight, it also brings powerful "four transmit and eight receive" functionality to further meet the needs of professional creators.
Lighter design, flexible fixing method
The DJI Mic 3 transmitter weighs only 16 grams, making it even lighter than previous Mini models. In addition to its magnetic mount, it also features a removable, rotating back clip, allowing creators to quickly set it up for any situation. For added convenience, the windscreen is available in five colors, allowing for a more customized look tailored to any outfit or occasion.
The charging box design also continues the previous generation design, which can accommodate 2 sets of transmitters and 1 set of receivers at the same time, but this time it can also store the magnetic back clip and windproof fur cover.
As for battery life, a single transmitter can be used for approximately 8 hours, while the receiver can reach 10 hours. With the charging case, the overall battery life can be increased to 28 hours. It also supports fast charging, allowing you to record for another 5 hours after just 2 minutes of charging, making it very practical for creators who need to record for long periods of time.
Four transmissions and eight receptions, specially designed for professional scenes
The DJI Mic 3's biggest highlight compared to its predecessor is its "four transmitters, eight receivers" feature. Its receiver can connect to four transmitters simultaneously and record four independent audio sources, making it ideal for group interviews, live events, or multi-camera shoots. The main receiver can even simultaneously distribute audio to up to seven slave receivers, allowing multiple devices to record simultaneously, eliminating the need for single-device operation.
For transmission, the DJI Mic 3 offers dual-band automatic hopping between 2.4GHz and 5GHz, with a maximum range of 400 meters. In "lossless audio transmission" mode, it transmits audio at 48kHz/24-bit while retaining dual-file 32-bit floating-point internal recording to avoid clipping and distortion. High-precision timecode support allows for faster alignment in post-production editing, improving overall workflow efficiency.
More tone options and intelligent noise reduction
In terms of sound performance, the DJI Mic 3 offers two automatic gain modes: "Auto" and "Dynamic," as well as three new preset tones: "Normal," "Rich," and "Bright," allowing creators to quickly switch between them based on their content style. Furthermore, the noise reduction function has two settings: strong and weak, providing greater flexibility in adapting to different recording environments.
Another convenient design feature is its seamless integration with the DJI OsmoAudio system. DJI Mic 3 can be paired directly with the Osmo 360, Osmo Action 5 Pro, Action 4, and Osmo Pocket 3, allowing recording without the need for an additional receiver, allowing creators using the entire DJI ecosystem to get into shooting mode faster.
