Android Headlines websiteRefers toSamsung and Google collaborated to create a new Android XR platformCodenamed "Project Moohan" virtual vision headsetThe official name will be "Samsung Galaxy XR" and it is expected to be officially launched this fall.

The Galaxy XR features an adjustable headband and a removable external battery. It also includes a passthrough feature, allowing users to switch freely between virtual and real-world environments. Samsung's internal demonstration version focused on voice control, eye tracking, and gesture tracking, using multiple microphones and cameras for recognition.
However, according to the latest news, the official version will also support two sets of dedicated controllers, which are similar in appearance to the Touch Plus controllers of Meta Quest 3, allowing users to operate the virtual interface in a more traditional way.

In terms of hardware specifications, the Galaxy XR will be equipped withQualcomm Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 processor, running the One UI operating interface based on the Android XR operating system. According to leaked screenshots, the system interface includes Samsung's own browser, album and camera applications, and the rest is roughly the same as the Android XR experience publicly demonstrated by Google.
This means that Samsung will adopt a "light integration" strategy, focusing on differentiating hardware and user experience rather than rebuilding a complete software platform.
As for the display, the Galaxy XR will feature a micro-OLED screen with 4K resolution per eye, providing an immersive experience of exceptionally high image quality. The device weighs approximately 545 grams, making it lighter than the Apple Vision Pro, which weighs over 600 grams. Battery life is approximately two hours, roughly the same as the Vision Pro.

Samsung has not yet announced a specific timetable for the price and release date, but according to market rumors in August, the Galaxy XR's price may be between 2.5 million and 4 million won (approximately NT$55,000 to NT$88,000).
In addition, Samsung confirmed in its second-quarter 2025 financial report that it plans to launch this flagship Android XR platform device this year, which will compete head-on with Apple and Meta, setting off a new wave of war in the immersive computing market.
