David Limp, head of Amazon's devices and services business, who recently announced that he would leave at the end of this year, was earlier confirmed to take over as CEO of Blue Origin, while former CEO Bob Smith will retire in early December this year.
According to MSNBC, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has appointed David Limp as CEO of Blue Origin and confirmed that former CEO Bob Smith will retire in early December. Smith will remain in the role until January 12, 2024, and is expected to assist with succession matters.
A letter sent internally by Jeff Bezos stated that under the leadership of Bob Smith, Blue Origin's business orders have accumulated to more than billions of dollars. At the same time, the team members have increased from the original 850 to more than 1 people, and the office has expanded to more than 7 million square feet of usable area in seven states in the United States.
In addition, Blue Origin has currently sent 31 people to the Kármán line, accounting for about 5% of all the people who have gone into space. At the same time, it has also signed a contract with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to allow American astronauts to return to the moon.
After David Limp joined Blue Origin and served as CEO, Jeff Bezos is expected to help Blue Origin grow faster.
