The Consumer Technology Association (CTA) has earlier formulated a standard for 8K TV products.Certification standards, and also announced the launch of the official certification mark that meets the 8K Ultra HD standard.
At the same time, the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) requires that TV products that meet the 8K Ultra HD standard must be able to upscale videos of any resolution to achieve 8K resolution playback. This will accelerate the promotion of the practicality of 8K TV products. Unlike the past promotion of 4K TV products, most content could not meet the 4K resolution standard, resulting in 4K models having significant sales performance in the market but struggling to keep up with the development of content.
Therefore, when consumers purchase 8K TV products in the future, they will be able to ensure that the content they use can also meet the 8K resolution performance, and will not have the problem of 8K TVs having only the hardware specifications but no suitable content to use.
However, even though TV manufacturers such as Samsung and Sharp have begun to use upscaling technologies such as artificial intelligence to "upgrade" existing 2K and 4K content to 8K quality, market players should also actively invest in the production of content with native 8K resolution specifications. Only in this way can the 8K resolution market ecosystem develop healthily.
由消費者技術協會制定8K電視產品標準與認證標章將從2020年1月1日正式啟用,預期明年開始推行的8K電視產品都能以此認證標章作為識別,而不會讓消費者購買僅標榜支援8K內容播放的電視產品。
Before the Consumer Technology Association proposed 8K TV product standards and certification marks, a group of companies promoting 8K display technology applications, including Samsung, Panasonic, Hisense, TCL, and Intel,8K Association, has proposed performance specifications for consumer 8K TV products, including a screen resolution of 7680 x 4320, a frame refresh rate of 24fps, 30fps, or 60fps, a peak display brightness of more than 600 nits, and support for HDMI 2.1 and HEVC encoding playback.
In addition, the 8K Association also proposed that detailed adjustments can be made to the color bits, color sampling, resolution, peak brightness, and display color gamut of 8K images. Support for HDR and more decoding and playback functions can also be added based on manufacturer product requirements.
