Creative Labs, known for creating the Sound Blaster sound card, launched a project on Kickstarter earlier.The title is "Sound Blaster Re:Imagine"The crowdfunding campaign for a modular audio hub. This device, reminiscent of Elgato's Stream Deck in appearance, allows users to seamlessly integrate and convert any audio input source to any output via physical buttons.
Users can connect devices such as game consoles, PCs, and musical instruments to the Sound Blaster Re:Imagine and freely switch the output to devices such as speakers, wired headphones, or wireless headphones, achieving seamless switching.
It adopts a magnetic modular design and integrates an Arm processor and a 32-bit DAC.
The Sound Blaster Re:Imagine system features a magnetic modular design, allowing users to freely arrange and combine modules on the base. The "Horizon" base, which is the default in the crowdfunding campaign, provides 5 slots, with a future expansion target including a "Vertex" base with 6 slots.
The first wave of modules includes:
• 3-inch Smart Screen
• Four-button pad
• Rotary knob
• Dual sliders
In terms of hardware specifications, the Sound Blaster Re:Imagine features an eight-core Arm processor (including a small NPU), 8GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage (expandable via micro SD card). The audio core is equipped with a high-resolution 32-bit DAC (digital-to-analog converter) and supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.
This device runs on a Linux operating system and can be used as a standalone device or connected to a PC as an audio hub.
It features AI DJ music generation, a built-in DOS emulator, and an open SDK for developers to customize.
In addition to its core audio routing functionality, Creative Labs has also added several additional features to Re:Imagine, making its application scenarios more diverse:
• AI DJ: AI can be used to automatically generate music.
• DOS emulator: It has a built-in DOS emulator, which can be used to play retro games.
• One-tap audio recording.
In addition, Sound Blaster Re:Imagine emphasizes developer friendliness, and will include an SDK and sample source code to encourage users to create their own custom applications, which can then be shared within the Creative Labs community.
Fundraising Timeline
The Sound Blaster Re:Imagine's Kickstarter campaign will continue until the end of December, with an expected shipping date in July 2026.
