At the Unpacked 2022 event, Samsung officially unveiled the new true wireless Bluetooth headset Galaxy Buds 2 Pro. Compared with the previous version with a glossy appearance design, this time it uses a faux leather matte surface, and further improves the sound quality and strengthens the active noise reduction function. The connection part has been upgraded to Bluetooth 5.3 version and supports LE Audio specifications.
In terms of overall design, the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro still retains the jewelry box-like concept design, and the headset itself is reduced in size by 15%, making it easier to wear and use, while supporting IPX7 level waterproof and dustproof.
The sound output has been upgraded to 24-bit Hi-Fi quality, delivering greater detail than the 16-bit output used in the previous Galaxy Buds Pro. It also supports Dolby Atmos for 360-degree surround sound and can simulate 5.1 or 7.1 channels. For audio, three high-signal-to-noise ratio microphones have been added, reducing ambient noise by approximately 40% and improving wind noise immunity by 2x compared to the previous version.
As for the user experience, Galaxy Buds 2 Pro also supports automatic switching design. This time, it also supports the connection switching of specific models of Samsung TVs. When there is an incoming call on the mobile phone, the headset can automatically switch from the TV to the mobile phone to answer the call, and automatically switch back to connecting to the TV sound after the call ends.
The Galaxy Buds 5.3 Pro utilizes Bluetooth 2 connectivity and natively supports LE Audio. Samsung anticipates a firmware update in the third or fourth quarter of this year to enable compatibility with more LE Audio technology applications. Furthermore, future compatibility with the Matter universal IoT specification will be further planned, though specific application models will be announced later.
The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro earphones can be used for 5 hours with active noise cancellation turned on. Recharging with the charging box can extend the maximum usage time to 18 hours. Turning off active noise cancellation can provide 8 hours of usage time. Recharging with the charging box can extend the maximum usage time to 29 hours. The charging box itself also supports wireless charging.
In terms of color, Galaxy Buds 2 Pro is available in three colors: graphite black, white and purple. The suggested retail price starts at US$229.99 and is expected to be launched in specific markets starting on August 8.
