Google today (June 6) shared its development model in Taiwan, including local team structure, talent recruitment plans, and how to promote the development of diverse artificial intelligence applications.
Google stated that Taiwan plays an important role in the global information and communications industry, and also has a rich industrial supply chain and software and hardware ecosystem, including semiconductor and chip-related development resources. Therefore, it has become a key development market for Google, and it continues to seek relevant technical talents in Taiwan.
Google currently has a local office in Taiwan and a data center in Changbin. It has launched a number of services and hardware products in Taiwan, and continues to cooperate with government agencies on various local developments. It has also expanded its recruitment of various technical talents to promote the development of artificial intelligence technology applications in which it has continuously invested.
In Taiwan, Google also continues its transnational operations and deployment structure in the world, including three major team operations: business services and market operations, technology research and development and product manufacturing, and strategic staff and logistical support. However, technology research and development and product manufacturing account for the majority of them, so the current staff manpower distribution will focus on product development, network construction, as well as software, hardware engineering, supply chain management, etc.
According to Google, in addition to its two main offices in Taipei and New Taipei City, the company has over seven other locations in Hsinchu and Changhua, collaborating with local businesses. Even its X Lab, which specializes in cutting-edge technologies and experimental projects, has team members in Taiwan. This makes Taiwan a crucial growth region for Google, attracting technical talent from around the world to join its Taiwanese team and even attracting more Taiwanese tech talent to return home for careers.
Despite the recent announcement of massive layoffs, Google emphasized that it is still recruiting talent and promoting the development of artificial intelligence-related technologies. It also emphasized that Taiwan has a rich software and hardware ecosystem and talent resources, so it will continue to cooperate with local companies and government agencies in the future. It also plans to leverage Taiwan's geographical location in the first island chain of the Pacific Ocean and the advantages of global submarine cable connection nodes to help promote the growth of more technologies and technology ecosystems.
