Last September, it announced the acquisition of a visualization data business company for $9 billion.Splunk, in order to promote the growth of information security, digital development and artificial intelligence applications, announced in March this yearCompleted the acquisitionLater, Cisco used an online meeting to explain how the merger of the two parties will create greater advantages.
Dave West, President of Cisco Asia Pacific, Japan and Greater China, and Simon Davies, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Splunk Asia Pacific, cited data indicating that by 2027, there will be more than 290 billion connected devices in operation worldwide, generating a huge amount of data, necessitating a relatively robust network infrastructure and security protection measures.
The combination of Cisco and Splunk's technical resources will leverage their complementary strengths and create a multiplier effect to accelerate the growth of data applications. Especially in the current wave of data-driven artificial intelligence, leveraging Splunk's data visualization technology to mine useful data and drive the growth of AI applications will become Cisco's next development focus.
By leveraging Splunk technology, Cisco will be able to gain quicker insights into useful information and discover security vulnerabilities through data visualization. It will also integrate its Talos threat intelligence capabilities with the Splunk technology platform to enhance network security defense capabilities and streamline security operations.
In addition, Dave West also explained that the combination of Cisco and Splunk technology will bring positive functional integration benefits to existing Cisco customers, while also creating faster data visualization and decision-making. In addition, Splunk's artificial intelligence, network security and visibility tools, combined with Cisco's security and network technologies, will help enterprises build higher network resilience and allow enterprises to focus on their production capacity business without worrying about network infrastructure issues.
Cisco will also enhance automated network response capabilities through self-generative artificial intelligence technology to strengthen the self-repair and automatic configuration development of network infrastructure. At the same time, it will ensure the security of user data under existing products and strengthen information security protection capabilities through the development of artificial intelligence technology.
Currently, Cisco and Splunk have a 75% overlap in partners worldwide. Future developments will further streamline the partner ecosystem while also prioritizing partners in Hong Kong, Mainland China, and Taiwan. The two companies emphasize that the merger will not impact existing collaborative businesses and will continue to drive the development of data visualization, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity technologies in Asia.
