In its first online press conference after the Lunar New Year, Chunghwa Telecom confirmed that it will actively cooperate with SpaceX's satellite network services to expand its network resources in the future.StarlinkThere have been many exchanges, but it is emphasized that there is still no specific cooperation and signing progress, so it is certain that services will not be provided in Taiwan this year.
Recently, Opensignal, a global mobile communications network testing and analysis organization, evaluated that the company performed well in terms of film and television experience, gaming experience, voice application experience and download speed experience. Chunghwa Telecom Chairman Xie Jimao emphasized that the company's 5G network user penetration rate reached 20% last year, and the target this year will be 30%.
However, regarding market speculation about whether the reduction in 5G network all-you-can-eat rates is due to demand or after the merger of Taiwan Mobile and Taiwan Star, Xie Jimao explained that there is no such plan at the moment, but emphasized that more stable network bandwidth resources will be provided, and connection density will be increased through 5G, fiber optic and Wi-Fi triple-network connections, while also narrowing the digital gap between urban and rural areas and thereby promoting more digital transformation.
In its future plans, Chunghwa Telecom plans to strengthen cloud IDC data centers, information security protection, and promote the development of various industries through 5G+AIoT. At the same time, it will also connect with the world through submarine cables and low-orbit satellites, and will even actively deploy 6G network technology in the future to increase network transmission bandwidth and connect with more new technology development opportunities.
However, Xie Jimao stated that a cooperative agreement has not yet been signed with Starlink for its low-orbit satellite internet service, so such services will not be provided in Taiwan this year. Millimeter-wave internet services, which are also listed as a key technology in 5G networks, are currently mainly targeted at corporate users for use as internal private networks, and there are no plans to open them to the general public.
