To celebrate the series' 30th anniversary, The Pokémon Company announced a brand new mainline title, Pokémon Wind and Wave. This new game not only moves the adventure to a beautiful, naturally beautiful archipelago, but it will also be an exclusive title for Nintendo's next-generation console, the Nintendo Switch 2, with a planned global release in 2027.
Saying goodbye to the Padia region of *Crimson/Purple*, *Pokémon Wind & Wave* will take players to a brand new island region surrounded by sea breezes and waves. According to the first official trailer, the new game maintains the open-world exploration framework but places greater emphasis on interaction with "challenging nature." Players will need to work together with their Pokémon to overcome obstacles in various terrains and environments.
New starter Pokémon unveiled, with a special Pikachu holding a secret.
Regarding the "starter Pokémon" (the original partners) that players are most concerned about, the official website has generously revealed the true appearance of three brand-new Pokémon:
• Grass-type "Leaf-browed Bird":Classified as a chick-like Pokémon, it can use the leaves on its eyebrows for photosynthesis, and its character is energetic but a bit clumsy.
• Fire-type "Bomgun":Classified as a puppy Pokémon, it has a faint glowing organ under its neck due to heat, and has an innocent and friendly personality.
• Water-type "Miao Mio":Classified as a water-type Pokémon, it can launch bouncy water balls from its tail and possesses high intelligence and shrewdness.
In addition, the official website also revealed two uniquely designed Pikachu – "Windy Pikachu" and "Poppy Pikachu". These two signature mascots with special outfits, along with the differences in their costumes between the two versions, are expected to play a crucial role in the main story of this game.
A powerful collaboration: The NHK Symphony Orchestra composes an epic soundtrack.
To enhance the grand natural environment and epic atmosphere of the new game, The Pokémon Company specially invited the NHK Symphony Orchestra, Japan's top orchestra, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2026, to perform the game's theme song.
This is not only a dream collaboration between the 30th anniversary of the Pokémon series and the 100th anniversary of the NHK Symphony Orchestra, but the official announcement also revealed that a grand symphony orchestra tour will be held throughout Japan in August 2026 to generate the highest level of hype for the game's release the following year.
In terms of language support, this game also adds Brazilian Portuguese for the first time, expanding the number of supported languages to 11, further demonstrating its ambition to cultivate the global market.
