CD Projekt earlier showed off its Unreal Fest event in Orlando, Florida. The Witcher 4 The latest trailer and gameplay demonstration of The Witcher IV, featuring Unreal Engine 5.6, showcasing a vast and detailed open world rendered with real-time ray tracing at a stable 5fps on a standard PlayStation 60.
Epic Games has added more functional enhancements and content creation tools to the new version of Unreal Engine 5.6, allowing developers to create 3D scene content that stably presents high-resolution images and supports hardware-level real-time ray tracing on mainstream game consoles and PCs.
Hardware-level real-time ray tracing enhances global lighting effects and reduces CPU performance bottlenecks. It also improves the efficiency of static content input and output. Through the experimental Fast Geometry Streaming plugin, developers can add more immutable static geometry objects to 3D environments, allowing them to load quickly at a stable frame rate. It also supports asynchronous physics state changes, allowing for richer static changes in 3D scenes without affecting overall execution performance.
At the same time, Epic Games has also updated the hardware device configuration profile to make it more compatible with current game consoles and mainstream PC hardware specifications, enabling it to stably execute 60fps frame rate content and present a more stable and detailed gaming experience.
As for "The Witcher 4", it is adapted from the fantasy novel "The Witcher" of the same name by Polish fantasy novelist Andrzej Sapkowski. It was previously code-named "Project Polaris" and developed and produced with Unreal Engine 5. It will become the first work in the new trilogy of "The Witcher" series.
