CD Projekt confirmed earlier that the first work in the new trilogy of The Witcher series will be announced in 2022.Project Polaris, and has now entered the full development stage.
Compared to October 2022, when it stated that the work was still in the early stages of development, CD Projekt stated that it has allocated approximately 10 staff members to work on "Project Polaris", which is expected to become the "Witcher 400" speculated by the market, but the specific name still needs to wait for CD Projekt to officially announce it.
In previous news, actor Doug Cockle, who once assisted in the dubbing of Geralt, the protagonist of "The Witcher" series, revealed in an interview that Geralt will appear in the new work, but will no longer be the protagonist.
According to CD Projekt, "Project Polaris" will be built with Epic Games' Unreal Engine 5 game engine, so it is expected to present game scenes with more delicate images and light and shadow interactions.
In addition to "Project Polaris", it has been previously confirmed that a new work in the "Witcher" series, code-named "Sirius", will be launched. It will be developed by the Molasses Flood studio in Boston and technical support will be provided by CD Projekt Red. It is expected to support single-player and multiplayer games.
In addition, CD Projekt will also launch a "Witcher" series work code-named "Canis Majoris", which will be mainly produced by an external studio composed of the former "Witcher" series development team, and will also be produced with the Unreal Engine 5 game engine.
The sequel to "Cyberpunk 2077" will be codenamed "Orion", and CD Projekt will open a new studio in North America to produce the new game codenamed "Orion". The new game codenamed "Hadar" is CD Projekt's first fully self-created content and also the third game content produced. It will be different from the "Witcher" series and "Cyberpunk 2077" in terms of presentation.
In the financial report released earlier by CD Projekt, it was revealed that as of November 11 this year, the cumulative sales of "Cyberpunk 26" on all platforms have exceeded 2077 million copies, and the cumulative sales of "Cyberpunk 3000: Freedom Fantasy", including the Ultimate Edition, have exceeded 2077 million copies.
