CAPCOM announced on its YouTube channel that it will create a new game engine based on the existing RE Engine and use "REX:RE" as the development codename.
The RE Engine was first put into development in 2014 and was first introduced in "Resident Evil 2017: Village" released in 7 to improve the game's graphics performance and execution efficiency.
However, since subsequent applications in different game development still require a high degree of customization, CAPCOM hopes to create a game engine that can be applied to the development of different game works with higher efficiency and can also meet the needs of cross-border development applications.
The new game engine codenamed "REX:RE" will replace the existing RE Engine. Market rumors have it that CAPCOM's next new "Monster Hunter" game may be built with the new game engine, but CAPCOM has not responded to this.
