Canon launched theEOS-M series mirrorless cameras, it was confirmed earlier that it has entered the stage of discontinuation of production, and the relevant products have been removed from Canon's official website. In the future, it will be confirmed that the currently developed EOS-R series models will be the main products.

Canon officially discontinued the EOS-M series of cameras, which have been developed for many years, and removed related products from its official website.

The EOS-M series is Canon's first mirrorless camera product. At that time, it was mainly facing competitive pressure from brands including Sony with mirrorless design camera products, so it launched this product as a market competitor.

However, at the time, Canon was still focusing on traditional mirrorless cameras, and therefore used the EOS-M series as a testbed. Not only was the sensor size limited by the M-mount design, which only supported APS-C format films, but the selection of interchangeable lenses was also limited. Unlike Sony, which already had a fairly complete lineup of E-mount lenses at the time, Canon did not have a clear user base in the market.

Canon officially discontinued the EOS-M series of cameras, which have been developed for many years, and removed related products from its official website.

Canon continues to face competition from rival brands in mirrorless camera products. In particular, Sony has abandoned the development of traditional mirrorless models and is fully competing in the market with mirrorless and full-frame camera products. This has forced Canon to adjust its camera product development strategy and launch the full-frame design in September 2018.EOS-R series mirrorless cameras.

However, the R-mount used by the EOS-R series cameras is not compatible with M-mount lenses, which has also accelerated the subsequent development of the EOS-M series products. Even though the later models have significantly improved the slow focus of the earlier models, and even the launch of theMain models for video shooting needsHowever, as Canon began to focus its development efforts on the EOS-R series of camera products, the EOS-M series of cameras was destined to become history.
