Arstechnica websiteAccording to reports, Tesla has recently faced numerous lawsuits filed by car owners in the Northern District Court of California.bring the action, alleging that the company had falsely reported the vehicle's mileage and was therefore considered to have deceived consumers.
Three individuals representing Model 3, Model S, Model Y, and Model X owners in California filed a lawsuit alleging Tesla inflates the range of its vehicles. The company only displays a range prediction once the battery level falls below 50%, causing owners to misjudge the distance their vehicles can travel or to worry about vehicle malfunctions.
The lawsuit states that the actual range of Tesla vehicles is significantly less than advertised by about 26%. Tesla vehicles also fail to take temperature and other factors that may affect the battery range into account during actual use, resulting in a larger gap in the actual predicted mileage. The calculation method is also changed when the battery level is below 50%, so that the corresponding driving distance is closer to the actual situation. This makes it easy for car owners to misjudge the charging time when using the vehicle in the early stages.
Tesla did not respond subsequently, but the representative who filed the lawsuit on behalf of the car owners emphasized that they would seek compensation from Tesla. The class action lawsuit was handled by the law firm Milberg Coleman Bryson Phillips Grossman.
