LINE Taiwan announced today (November 3rd) that, in response to the highly fragmented content and services in Taiwan's OTT market, its LINE TV service will be officially integrated with KKTV, the streaming video service brand formerly under KK Company. The two companies will combine their respective user bases, LINE TV's strength in Mandarin content, and KKTV's long-standing expertise in Japanese content resources to enhance content competitiveness, upgrade user experience, and expand future investment in content.
Chen Li-ren, CEO of LINE Taiwan and Chairman of Choco Technology New Media, a LINE TV service provider, emphasized: "This integration is not just a combination of two platforms, but also an opportunity for the upgrading of Taiwan's OTT industry. We believe that to enhance the competitiveness of local streaming platforms, we must leverage the power of resource integration to create a win-win situation for both the industry and viewers."
KKTV General Manager Huang Guoyu stated that there is already a trend of local platform integration in the international market, and this integration will significantly enhance the purchasing power for external film and television content and the planning and production capabilities for original content.
Following this integration, KKTV will cease updates from January 1, 2026, and all content will be transferred to LINE TV.
Starting today, KKTV users can transfer their accounts with a single click.
Regarding the integration process, starting from 1 p.m. on November 3 (Monday), original KKTV users can link their subscription status and viewing history to LINE TV through the "Account Authorization" process, allowing for a painless transfer and continued enjoyment of the service.
Content Upgrade: Total number exceeds 6000, strengthening Japanese drama content.
The most direct benefit of this integration is the expansion of its content library. LINE TV already had a broad presence in Taiwanese dramas, mainland Chinese dramas, Korean dramas, original content, and variety shows, while KKTV has long been focused on Japanese dramas, animation, and Hong Kong dramas. After the integration, LINE TV will have over 6000 film and television content across its platform.
To this end, LINE TV has been broadcasting a number of popular Japanese dramas since the fourth season, including "1972 Nagisa no Hotaru" starring Issei Takahashi, "Coach Detective" starring Toshiaki Karasawa, and "Final Rondo - For You Who Will Never Meet Again-" starring Tsuyoshi Kusanagi.
Meanwhile, LINE TV will continue to invest in local and original content, such as the recently premiered manga-based series "Black Box" and the reality show "Star Chef Battle".
Enhanced viewing experience: Incorporating KKTV technology, adding "offline viewing" and "dual subtitles" features.
In terms of user experience, the LINE TV platform will combine KKTV's technical team and operational resources to upgrade and launch two long-awaited new features:
• Offline Viewing: Supports users to watch downloaded content even without an internet connection.
• Dual Subtitles: Depending on the drama genre, dual subtitles in Chinese and Japanese or Chinese with other languages will be provided to cater to both entertainment and language learning needs.
Plan Upgrade: We are now offering a shared plan for 2-4 people; existing VIP members can upgrade for free.
To coincide with this integration and LINE TV's 10th anniversary, LINE TV officially launched a new "Sharing Plan," including options for two and four users. This plan uses individual accounts, allowing sharing members to retain their personal passwords, favorites, and viewing history, balancing the fun of sharing with personal privacy.
[Plan Discount]
• Single-person annual plan: The first year price is 1200 yuan (5% discount, 100 yuan per person per month).
• Two-person sharing plan (new): The annual fee for the first year is 2200 yuan (92 yuan per person per month).
• Four-person sharing plan (new): The annual fee for the first year is 3200 yuan (66 yuan per person per month).
Most importantly, to reward existing users, the benefits for existing LINE TV VIP users will be doubled: all users who originally opted for the "single-person exclusive" plan will be automatically and free of charge upgraded to the "two-person shared" plan, allowing them to share the service with a friend or family member without any additional payment (this offer will continue until the user cancels their subscription).
In addition, LINE TV also announced a collaboration with Taiwan Broadband Network, allowing users to set a fixed frequency channel "5555" through the "HaTV+" smart set-top box and access the LINE TV service with one click.
