The Chinese government requires that after Broadcom completes its acquisition of VMware, the software provided by the latter must continue to be compatible with hardware used in China, and cannot be bundled with Broadcom hardware equipment for sales.
After China agrees to the deal, Broadcom expects to complete the acquisition of VMware as early as November 11, US time.
Broadcom's $690 billion acquisition of VMware has already been approved in Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, the European Union, Israel, Japan, South Africa, South Korea, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom. The antitrust review waiting period has also ended in the United States, so there are no legal obstacles to this transaction.
