Bose earlier updated its full-face active noise-cancelling headphones QuietComfort Ultra Headphones and in-ear active noise-cancelling headphones QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds. In addition to integrating its own active noise-cancelling technology, this time it also added the new Immersive Audio immersive music spatial audio system.
Compared to Apple's spatial audio, Bose emphasizes that its Immersive Audio system does not require special music file formats. It simulates spatial audio effects through built-in sensors and digital audio processors, and can switch between a static mode suitable for fixed-point listening and a dynamic mode that adjusts with head movements according to usage needs.
If the user does not need to use the spatial audio function, simply turn it off to maintain the normal active noise reduction headphone usage mode.
The QuietComfort Ultra Headphones launched this time have no obvious differences from the previously launched full-face headphones, but they have added more metal design. The volume control interface that originally used physical buttons has now been changed to touch operation, and the sound connection still supports the 3.5mm headphone cable jack.
As for the battery level, when active noise reduction and spatial audio are turned on at the same time, it can correspond to about 18 hours of use time. If only the active noise reduction function is turned on, it can last for 24 hours of use time.
The QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds are the same as the previously released version, with the main feature being support for spatial audio. When the active noise reduction function is turned on, calls will be made through earphones with less external noise.
In terms of power performance, when active noise reduction and spatial audio are turned on at the same time, the maximum usage time is only 4 hours, while when only active noise reduction is turned on, the usage time is 6 hours.
The QuietComfort Ultra Headphones and QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds are now available for pre-order in the US, with the former having a suggested retail price of $429 and the latter $299. Bose has also announced the release of new QuietComfort full-face headphones, which will replace the previously released QuietComfort 45. They also feature Bose active noise cancellation technology, but lack the new spatial audio feature. They are advertised as offering 24-hour usage and have a suggested retail price of $349.
