Bose announced the update of its second-generation flagship full-face noise-canceling headphones, QuietComfort Ultra Headphones, with comprehensive upgrades in sound quality, active noise cancellation (ANC), battery life and design, but maintaining the same price of $449 as the previous generation. It will be officially launched on October 10.
Support USB-C lossless audio
The new QuietComfort Ultra Headphones support lossless audio playback via a USB-C wired connection, can output 16-bit/44.1kHz or 48kHz sound quality, and have low latency characteristics, making them suitable for gaming needs on desktop or mobile devices.
At the same time, Bose has also added "Cinema Mode" to its own Immersive Audio spatial sound technology. By rebalancing background sounds and effect sounds, it creates a wider front sound field and makes dialogue clearer. It is suitable for listening to movies, TV shows, and even podcasts and audiobooks. For general music playback, it brings deeper bass, more natural high frequencies and consistent clarity.
Noise reduction and transparency mode have been further evolved
Bose's new earbuds feature the same active noise cancellation improvements as the QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds, specifically the addition of an Aware Transparency mode that more smoothly handles changes in ambient noise, such as sudden sirens. Users can also choose to completely disable active noise cancellation or manually adjust the intensity to their optimum level. Bose has also reduced the "noise floor" when active noise cancellation is active, making use more natural in quiet environments.
Battery life is improved across the board
Battery life is also a key feature of this upgrade. With active noise cancellation enabled, the headset boasts 30 hours of continuous use, and 45 hours with it disabled. Even with immersive audio enabled, it boasts 24 hours of playback time. The headset also supports charging while in use.
In addition, the QuietComfort Ultra Headphones have an intelligent power-saving function. When they are laid flat or stored in the box, they will automatically enter standby mode. When they are put on again, the improved sensor element detects and immediately resumes playback.
Design details and new color options
Bose has replaced the previous flat finish with a polished metal headband joint for a more refined feel. Driftwood Sand and Midnight Violet are now available, joining the existing black and white options, for a total of four versions.
Flagship experience without the price increase
While the new generation of QuietComfort Ultra Headphones offers significant upgrades, the price remains the same at $449, the same as the previous generation. Pre-orders for the new headphones are now open on the Bose official website, with official shipments set for October 10nd.
