Through the application of artificial intelligence technology, Bosch demonstrated a device called SoundSee during CES 2020 that is only slightly larger than a lunch box. It can help astronauts determine whether there are potential failures in space station equipment by analyzing environmental sounds, thereby achieving preventive maintenance preparations.

Since equipment failures in space are often more difficult to troubleshoot than on Earth, preventive maintenance and inspection become much more important.

The SoundSee device created by Bosch uses artificial intelligence technology to analyze the sounds produced by the space station environment to determine whether there are any abnormalities in the radiation system or pipelines in the space station.

The SoundSee device can be mounted on various vehicles such as robots, flying devices, or used in analytical equipment. It is also currently being prepared for deployment on the International Space Station to help astronauts more easily detect the operating status of space station equipment.

SoundSee, which is expected to be deployed in space by a NASA vehicle, will transmit the first batch of collected sound files back to Bosch's research center in Pittsburgh, USA, early this year.
