The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (Bluetooth SIG) has announced the establishment of Bluetooth Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd., with physical headquarters in Beijing, China, and additional offices in Shanghai and Shenzhen. The goal is to better serve the rapidly growing number of SIG members in China and further promote the growth of the country's thriving Bluetooth ecosystem.

“China is a key hub for Bluetooth technology and is increasingly important to the Bluetooth SIG,” said Alain Michaud, Chairman of the Bluetooth SIG. “The establishment of a China entity reflects our commitment to promoting the development of Bluetooth technology in China and globally, and will enable us to provide even stronger support and resources to our valued Chinese members in the future.”
Currently, over 6500 Bluetooth SIG member companies are located in China, making it the second-largest member concentration globally. Nearly 50% of all Bluetooth chips shipped annually are developed by member companies located in China. Similarly, nearly 50% of all smartphones sold annually (the primary Bluetooth platform product) are also developed by Chinese member companies.
Choosing to set up a physical headquarters in China will enable localized technical support, sharing of resources and expertise, thereby helping Chinese companies to fully realize the potential of Bluetooth technology.
“International technology standards like Bluetooth rely on global collaboration and participation to thrive,” said Neville Meijers, CEO of the Bluetooth SIG. “Our open standards model enables companies around the world to implement and utilize Bluetooth technology while fostering its continued development. This collaborative approach ensures that Bluetooth technology remains robust, versatile, and globally influential.”
